“Formerly called the Jug & Bottle back in the 1700s, it still has the same old beams that would crack your skull if it were not for the glitter of horse brasses to catch your attention plus an unusual collection of service badges and the odd coin.” James Scott wrote this in 1987 for the West Sussex Gazette . The beams are still there and the horse brasses and an odd coin, as well as some hidden on a beam, but the service badge collection has gone.
The only pub in the village where locals have met and gossiped for centuries is still a popular venue for villagers and anyone passing through.

During the colder Winter months the Inglenook is stacked with logs and lit to warm and provide a cosy glow for patrons to enjoy.

The Menus are on the “Good Pub Food” page
From huge platters of ribs to a bowl of cheesy chips, you can choose from our menu of daily home cooked meals, delicious home made pies (particularly popular) and puddings, or our regular pub favourites, such as our Mozzarella & Basil stuffed Chicken Breast in a creamy cheesy sauce. We also do lunch time snacks; sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes, scampi and chips.  Our daily specials board will usually have seasonal game dishes, fish dishes and curries and our home made desserts menu usually include hot or cold delights.  There are Vegetarian Dishes and other special diets can be catered for as well as Allergen Information.
We always have a good selection of Cask Ales.  Longman Best Bitter,  London Pride, and, at the moment, Traditional English Ale from a local brewery – The Hogs Back Brewery.
Our Ciders include Rosie’s Pig, First Quality, Hairy Pig, as well as the commercial Stowford, Strongbow, Simmonds and Magners & Kopperburg flavoured ciders.
Well behaved dogs are welcome.  We’d be grateful if they are kept on a lead.   They are allowed in the pub and out on the front patio, but not in the back garden.
